Landmine detonated in West Bengal

West Midnapore, Nov 20: Police detonated a landmine, implanted under the metal road near Kukurmuri village under Jamboni police station, early this morning.

Rajashekaran said posters and banners, justifying the two-day bandh call given by Maoist ultras, were found near the landmine.

Villagers informed police about the landmine following which a police team from Jhargram police station rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area, the SP added.

Later, a bomb disposal squad rushed to the area and detonated the landmine, the SP said, adding that tension prevailed.
