Harshvardhan to continue as Delhi BJP chief
New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) BJP's Delhi unit Harshvardhan has been given the green signal to continue in his post, party sources said today.
This was indicated to Dr Harshvardhan by BJP national president Rajnath Singh at a meeting late last evening.
In a communique, Delhi BJP's polling officer Shamlal Garg was asked to defer the election process, party sources said.
The party apparently did not want to effect a leadership change in the city-state to project a united face ahead of the Assembly elections slated next year.
Earlier there had been speculation that former Union Minister Vijay Goel would take over from the present incumbent, who has completed his second term. However, in view of the Assembly polls, the party is to retain Dr Harshvardhan as he is considered a non-controversial leader, sources said.
