Purulia, Nov 20: A CPI(M) local committee member, who was abducted last night by Maoist ultras, was found murdered this morning at Ghatbera village under Balarampur police station in this district of West Bengal.
Purulia District Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Prasad said CPI(M) local committee member Sufal Mandi was abducted from his house by Maoist ultras.
Police also recovered several posters and banners, put up by the rebels to protest the Nandigram violence, from near the body.
Meanwhile, five landmines were detonated in the area this morning while two people were arrested for possessing firearms, the SP added.
Massive combing operations were on to nab the ultras, Mr Prasad added.
