Abu Salem remanded to judicial custody

Bhopal, Nov 20: A local court today remanded underworld don Abu Salem to judicial custody until December 5 in a fake passport case.

Public Prosecutor K S Kansana submitted an application, before Special Judge A K Shrivastava, stating the police had completed Salem's interrogation and urging the court to grant judicial custody.

Salem was brought here on November 12 from Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail on a production warrant, presented in court and remanded to a week's police custody. The don was taken to some locations here in connection with the investigation.

Defence Counsel P C Bedi urged the judge to send Salem to Mumbai as he had to travel to Azamgarh, on November 24 for attending a ceremony in memory of his late mother. Salem will board the Punjab Mail this evening amid tight security.
