Guwahati, Nov 20 (UNI) The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) today demanded immediate action against the Board of Secondary Education, Assam(SEBA) officials who had allegedly tampered with resolutions of an AASU-SEBA expert body meeting.

Addressing a press conference, AASU advisor Samujjal Bhattacharyya said, '' We had brought the issue to SEBA chairman's notice immediately and though the enquiry committee formed to look into it had found the officials guilty and submitted its report on September 12, no action has been initiated against the officials.'' The AASU had accused the SEBA academic officers Mrs B Chetia Phukan and Mr S Dowarah of incorporating a line in the proceedings of the Biology group meeting on August 4 last. The meeting was called to discuss the syllabus prepared by the AASU for class VIII to class XII for science subjects.

The students' body had since then staged a demonstration in the SEBA office and also shot repeated letters to SEBA chairman but no action has been taken yet.

Dr Bhattacharyya alleged that the SEBA officials and chairman were part of a conspiracy to deprive the students of the state board a better quality of education.

He also questioned the state education minister's inactive role in this issue.

AASU president Shankar Prasad Rai and secretary Tapan Gogoi also warned the SEBA of a mass agitation if it failed to punish the erring officers and implement the new syllabus by next academic session.
