Vaniyar Federation urges TN govt for inclusion in MBC list

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 19 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Vaniyar (Vaniya Chettiar) Federation today urged the State Government to include them in the Most Backward Class(MBC) list.

In a statement here, Federation's founder president R Panneerselvam and state incharge S Rajendran said a resolution to this effect was adopted in a meeting here yesterday.

They said about 55 lakh Vaniyar Chettiar Community have spread across the State and most of them were educationally, economically and socially backward. It is time for the Government to enlist them in the MBC category, they added.

They said a Vaniyar IAS Training Academy would be established at Chennai to provide training to the aspirants from the Community to appear for the Central Civil Service examinations in 2008.
