SC issues notices on transfer petition in flat allotment case
New Delhi, Nov 19 (UNI) The Supreme Court today issued notices to Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, Shivpal Singh Yadav, brother of former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav and others on a petition filed by the state government seeking transfer of petitions pending in Allahabad High Court to the apex court in case of illegal allotment of 28 flats, by Mulayam Singh government, located in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.
A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices R V Raveendran and J M Panchal issued notices to the respondents who include the allottees of flats after hearing counsel for the UP government, who contended that since many cases have been pending before the High Court, the petition should be transferred to the Supreme Court for speedy disposal.
An application seeking cancellation of all the 28 flats, allotted unlawfully, is already pending before the Apex Court. Mayawati government is also seeking permission of the court for registration of criminal cases against those involved in the scandal.
