New Delhi, Nov 19 (UNI) The Nandigram kilings today rocked the Rajya Sabha leading to its adjournment for the whole an hour of the Question Hour.

As soon as the House assembled for the day, Dinesh Trivedi of Trinamool Congress rose up and sought to know from Chairman Hamid Ansari as to what ruling he had given on his notice for adjournment of the Question Hour to discuss the Nandigram crisis.

Along with him, senior BJP members Sushma Swaraj, Murli Manohar Joshi and Shiv Sena member Manohar Joshi besides UNPA members also were on their feet, demanding the House immediately take note of the grave situation prevailing in Nandigram in West Bengal.

Some of the BJP members moved into the well of the House waving some banners and pages of newspapers showing pictures of Nandigram happenings. However, the Chair asked them that waving banners in the House was not allowed and they should resume their seat.

But the vociferous protests from the Opposition continued. The din was compounded by equally vociferous retorts from some members of the Left, and also from members of the Treasury benches, forcing the Chairman to announce adjournment of the House till 1200 hrs.

Today was the third day, and in effect first working day, of the Winter Session of Parlaiment. On the first day the House had been adjourned after obituary references and the second day was declared a holiday.
