Raj BJP unit orders probe into spat between party members

Jaipur, Nov 19 (UNI) The Rajasthan BJP Unit has directed the State Party Secretary to submit a report on the incident of a spat and roughing up between party leader and Pali Zila Pramukh Mamta Meghwal and sitting party MLA Laxmi Barupal during a public function in Pali district on Saturday.

The meeting of BJP state office bearers, held here this afternoon directed party state Secretary Narain Ram Beda to investigate the matter and submit a detailed report over the incident.

Mr Beda submitted his preliminary report over the incident at the meeting which was presided over by party state president Mahesh Sharma.

The incident took place when the MLA and the Zila Pramukh indulged in a verbal duel during the latter's speech about developmental works in the area during a social function held by the Meghwal community in Khuni Guda village of Pali district on November 17.

Both sides were trying to take credit for the development.

Ms Barupal, who represent Desuri assembly segment in the State Assembly, alleged that Ms Meghwal and her father roughed up with her while Ms Meghwal alleged that the MLA and her husband had slapped her and used abusive language against her.

Ms Meghwal and Ms Barupal both had lodged cross FIR against each other.
