No need for fresh ban on milk powder export

New Delhi, Nov 19 (UNI) There was no need for the imposition of fresh ban on the export of milk powder in view of sufficient availability of milk during flush season, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

The ban on export of milk power lapsed on September 30 this year and in view of sufficient availability of milk during flush season, there was no need for the imposition of fresh ban on the export of milk powder, Minister of State for Agriculture Taslimuddin said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

He said the Government is implementing a Centrally Sponsored scheme titled 'National Project for Cattle and Buffalo Breeding (NPCBB)' towards increasing the milk production apart from schemes like Intensive Dairy Development Programme', 'Strengthening Infrastructure for Quality and Clean Milk Production', 'Assistance to Cooperatives' and 'Dairy/Poultry Venture Capital Fund' which also contribute towards dairy development.

The Government is regularly reviewing the availability of milk in the country to ensure its supply at a reasonable price, he added.
