Mother throws her two children into lake, commits suicide

Bangalore, Nov 19 (UNI) A Woman committed suicide after throwing her two children into a lake near Sakharayapatna in Chikmagalur district about 300 km from here.

The incident took place on November nine, came to light today with the police recovering the three bodies.

Police Inspector M P Nagaraj said the woman took the extreme step for a trivial reason.

Pankaja (32) was living with here children in the city as her husband was looking after the farm land in a nearby village. She used to often tell him to sell away the land and stay with the family in the city, which the husband was reluctant to do so.

In a sudden rush of emotion the woman took her two children Bharath (12) and Rashmi (10) to Iyanakrere lake, pushed them into it and she herself jumped into the water.

The bodies were sent for post mortem, the official said.
