Militant shot dead by police in Manipur

Imphal, Nov 19 (UNI) A suspected militant was shot dead in an encounter by a police team at Thangmeiband near here last night.

The encounter took place when three armed ultras attacked a police party, which immediately retaliated, killing one of them on the spot while the other two managed to flee.

One .38 pistol and three live rounds were recovered from the possession of the slain militant.

Security forces launched a combing operation soon after the incident to nab the remaining ultras, police said.
