AICC demand on Gujarat does not mean President's rule

New Delhi, Nov 19 (UNI) The Congress today ruled out imposition of President's rule in poll-bound Gujarat.

Clarifying Saturday's AICC resolution which had asked the Centre to enfore the principles of accountability in Gujarat in the light of a sting operation relating to the 2002 communal carnage, Congress spokesman said it was not a demand for invoking Article 356.

The party only wanted the Centre to keep a strict vigil on the state to check recurrence of such violence, he said.
