Life imprisonment for dowry harassment

Ratlam, MP, Nov 18 (UNI) A local court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for burning his wife alive for dowry.

Additional Sessions Judge Rajeev Bhatjiwale delivered the verdict yesterday.

According to prosecution, Barsi village resident Saeed had doused Nagma with kerosene and set her afire with the help of his mother Bano on April 23, 2006. She was rushed to Indore where she succumbed.

Police had registered a case against Saeed and Bano on a complaint by Nagma's father.

However, the court acquitted Bano for want of evidence.

UNI
