At least 17 dead, 80 missing in Ukraine mine blast

Donetsk, Ukraine, Nov 18: At least 17 miners were killed in a methane explosion at a Ukrainian colliery today and the fate of a further 80 was uncertain, Ukrainian officials said.

The Committee for Labour Safety said 17 miners were confirmed dead in the 3 am local time explosion and 83 were missing. Officials at the Emergencies Ministry put the death toll at 19, with 80 unaccounted for.
