6 undertrials escape from Kopargaon sub-jail
Kopargaon, Maharashtra, Nov 18 (UNI) Six undertrials, lodged at the Kopargaon sub jail, escaped last evening taking advantage of the power cut in the region, police said.
They said the six, facing robbery and theft charges, escaped by removing the grills of the window.
The six have been identified as Sanjai Waikar, Yogesh Pawate, Ravindra Jejurkar, Kalu More, Narayan Waikar and Ramesh Pawar.
Of the six, Sanjay Waikar had earlier been lodged in a Sangamner jail and had escpaed from there. He had, however, been nabbed later, police said.
There was a power cut in the region last evening. The jail authorities realised that the six had escaped only when the power supply was restored at around 2245 hrs, police said.
