TN CM announces SAP for sugarcane per tonne

Chennai, Nov 16 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced Rs 1,034 as the State Advisory Price (SAP) for sugarcane per tonne with nine per cent recovery rate for 2007-08 crushing season.

An official release here said the SAP included the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 811.80 fixed by the Centre.

The DMK Government, considering the welfare of the sugarcane farmers, increased it by Rs 222.20 and fixed the SAP at Rs 1,034.

This price would also be applicable to the sugarcane already procured from October 1 this year.

The Chief Minister also announced an incentive of Rs 9 for 0.1 per cent, each of sugarcane over and above the nine per cent recovery rate.
