PCB asks churches to respect law of land
Aizawl, Nov 16(UNI) The Mizoram Pollution Control Board (PCB) has asked the churches to respect the law of the land, as noise pollution was created following the 24-hour Bible reading through loud speakers. The board has appealed to the Bible readers to ensure that their activities do not disturb others. The Noise Pollution (Regulation&Control) Rules 2000 had strictly prohibited unauthorised use of loud speakers, particularly after 2200 hours, a statement said today.
The board had measured noise pollution during the Diwali festivals here and concluded that fire displays and crackers did not add much to noise pollution which was at 98.7 decibels whereas 125 is the limit, the statement said.
