Overall development a door to developed India: Kalam

Kanpur, Nov 16 (UNI) Former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam today said in order to make India a developed nation by 2020, there was a need to ponder over the country's overall development.

''Its a matter of great concern that scores of areas in the country are underdeveloped. Therefore, to actualise the dream of developed India by 2020, efforts ought to be made on developing these areas,'' Dr Kalam said during a programme at Padampat Singhania School here.

Besides, stress should be laid upon expediting the development of agricultural, transport and information technology, the former president observed.

During his brief 25 minute speech, Dr Kalam exhorted the students to work hard and leave no stone unturned to come out with flying colours in life.

Interacting with students, he said, ''You are the future citizens of India. You can reach the moon and even become a medico or a scientist...the only need is make your calibre high.'' UNI
