Mumbai buildings to get Italian certification

Mumbai, Nov 16 (UNI) From eight weeks now, Mumbaikars could dream of a safe house, all thanks to Italy, for the ICMQ, an Italy-based prime certification body is going to open an office in the metropolis shortly.

''ICMQ, the certification body which operates in the construction and building products and service sector will start its office by the year end,'' Narinder Nayar, President of the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry told reporters today on the sidelines of the inauguration of the sixth edition of the Italian Festival here today.

According to Nayar, ICMQ on construction will provide certifications to the builders on the quality of material as well as construction procedure.

''It will also provide certification to several infrastructure projects including the Worli-Sea link project,'' he added.

The body is accredited to issue Management Systems Certifications and verification of designs (projects validation), for the design and execution of civil constructions and plants, of products and services for buildings and it is qualified by the competent ministry to verify the electrical plants according to the law.
