Japan's Nikkei opens down 1 pct, Canon sold
TOKYO, Nov 16 (Reuters) The Nikkei average opened 1 percent lower on Friday, led by Canon Inc, tracking an overnight fall on Wall Street.
Sell orders overwhelmed Japan's three largest banks, including Mizuho Financial Group Inc, on renewed concerns for subprime problems.
By 0001 GMT, the Nikkei average was down 157.57 points to 15,238.73. The broader TOPIX index lost 1.2 percent to 1,481.29.
