Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy inaugurated the centre, which would enable the company to expand its initiatives to create highly skilled IT professionals across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, company Head of Manufacturing C S Dwivedi said it had ventured into IT career development to meet the increasing demand for skilled professionals.
The IT boom in the country had caused a severe shortage of highly skilled ICT engineers, he said, adding that with the HCL CDCs, the company hoped to play a leadership role in enlarging the talent pool for organisations in the IT sector.
Company Associate Vice-President S T M Eswar, who was also present, said the HCL CDC courses had been designed keeping in mind the specific needs of modern-day organisations. The company's mission was to transform the students into 'industry-ready' professionals, he added.
