HC orders imprisonment to SDM

Allahabad, Nov 16 (UNI) Allahabad High Court has ordered 15 days imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,000 to the then SDM Lalganj, Azamgarh, Gulab Chandra Ram, after holding him guilty of contempt of court.

Mr Ram is presently posted in district Deoria.

Justice D P Singh also ordered to take the SDM in to custody forthwith as he was present in the court when the order was passed.

The order was passed on a contempt petition filed by Mahant Shivdas Udasin Purva Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Purva Jiwali, Azamgarh through its manager.

In a dispute pertaining to the school, the court had passed an order on March 16, 2004.

However, later, the SDM passed another order contrary to the court's observation in the matter.
