25,000 wells to be constructed under EGS in Maharashtra

Mumbai, Nov 16 (UNI) Maharashtra Employment Guarantee scheme Minister Harshwardhan Patil today said that under the EGS scheme 25,000 wells will be constructed in 27 districts of the state this year for which Rs 150 crore would be spent.

Talking to reporters, Mr Patil said that a target of one lakh wells was decided in 1999 and so far 75,391 have been constructed while 17,155 wells are under construction.
