Students call highway blockade in Manipur

Imphal, Nov 15 (UNI) The Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) today announced to organise a blockade on the National Highway 39 from midnight to protest the alleged assault on students by Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel.

Plying of buses and goods transport on NH 39, the only highway that connects Manipur with the rest of the world, will be disrupted till November 25, the association stated.

The frequent bandhs were causing shortage of petroleum products and essential goods in the state.

The state government had also decided to take action against those who called bandhs in the state as it was causing huge losses to the common man.
