Bangalore, Nov 15 (UNI) Looking for a strong and lengthy presence in India, Italian construction equipment major Soilmec had drawn up aggressive plans, including setting up of a manufacturing unit in the country.

With over 50 Soilmec drilling rigs in the country for pile foundations and order books filled to the brim till April next year, Soilmec had drawn up the blue print for a manufacturing unit in the country, Soilmec Director for Italy David Panzavalta told newspersons here.

He said the demand for such drilling rigs in India was around 100 and Soilmec aimed at grabbing atleast 50 per cent of the market share. '' We have a portfolio of more than 12 rigs to be delivered in the next two months,'' Mr Sanjay Chakrabarty, Managing Director of Soilmec (India), said.

With an average cost of half a million Euros, each machine would add value to the customers.

Mr Chakrabarty said one of the top priorities in India was to improve and develop new infrastructure and Soilmec saw a great demand for its products and technology. Soilmec offered comprehensive solutions that were the results of intense reserch and development undertaken over the last four decades, he added.

He said the Company had also set up its own design team in India to offer a custom-made solution to Indian clients. Depending upon the demand and customer requirements more products would be introduced, he added.

Soilmec was demonstrating its rigs at the ongoing ESCON-2007, an exposition of construction and mining equipment, of the Confederation of Indian Industry here.
