Shiela should own responsibility for water quality in Delhi:BJP

New Delhi, Nov 15 (UNI) Holding the nine-year old Sheila Dixit Government and the Centre responsible for the severe water shortage in the National Capital, the BJP today demanded the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister for gradual deterioration in quality of water supplied to the residents.

BJP spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said the quality of water in Yamuna had deteriorated to such an extent that any amount of treatement would not make the water fit for driking. The country had spent over Rs 18,000 crores on Yamuna Action Plan but the quality of water in the river had worsened than what it was when the plan was conceived. Ms Dixit is the Chief Minister as well as Chairperson of the Delhi Jal Board and she should take the responsibility for the sad state of affairs, ''Mr Malhotra, an MP from South Delhi Lok Sabha constituency said.

He said the observation of the Supreme Court that the transport situation in Delhi was a 'Capital punishment' and the citizens were a harassed lot.

He said although the Commonwealth was just three years away, the kind of preparations expected for holding the mega event were nowhere in sight.
