1 held, diamonds worth Rs 20 lk seized

Chennai, Nov 15: The customs officials have arrested a passenger for smuggling diamonds worth Rs 20 lakh at Anna international airport here.

Official sources today said Jahil Ali Khan (48), hailing from Kolar in Karnataka, arrived at the airport from Bangkok in a Thai Airlines flight last night.

The diamonds, wrapped in a black paper, were hidden inside his trousers.

During interrogation it was revealed that the passenger was just a courier boy and he was promised an amount of Rs 10,000 for safe delivery of the diamonds, the sources added.
