Pak PM holds farewell meet with Musharraf

Islamabad, Nov 15: Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz held a farewell meeting with President General Pervez Musharraf at Aiwan-e-Sadr here on Thursday. Musharraf lauded the contribution of Aziz in fast tracking the socio-economic development of the country through far reaching economic reforms, which yielded enormous benefits and improved the quality of life of the people.

Musharraf also underlined the excellent working relations between their offices, saying that they were unparalleled and smooth.

He prayed and wished for Aziz"s success in all endeavours of life.

Aziz thanked Musharraf for his consistent support and guidance and strengthening of democratic institutions.

Earlier, State Information Minister Tariq Azeem had said that the national assembly would be dissolved at midnight tonight (Thursday) after completing its five-year Constitutional term.

He said a caretaker government would be sworn in on Friday to oversee the upcoming general elections. It is also likely that the name of the caretaker Prime Minister will be announced today, he added.

"The National Assembly will get automatically dissolved Thursday midnight on completion of its five-year term," said Azeem.

"This is a historic moment for all of us." This will be the first time in 22 years that an assembly completes its mandate, The News quoted Azeem, as saying. ANI>
