Gora fought against supersitition: Dabholkar
Vijayawada, Nov 15 (UNI) Social Reformer, Atheist and Freedom fighter Gora has stroved incessantly to fight evils in society such as superstitions blind beliefs, caste and untouchability said Maharashtra Andh Shraddha Nirmulan Samiti President Narendra Dabholkar.
Dr Dabholkar, while inaugurating a seminar on 'Superstitions- A bane of progress', organised in connection with Gora's 105th birth anniversary here today said Mr Gora stood for an egalitarian society in which all should get equal opportunity and become equal partners in progress.
Referring to the bill passed by the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, banning 'eradication of black magic and evil and aghori (fierce and reckless) practices,' he hailed it as a progressive measure in the right direction. The law unambiguously states that all entities mentioned in the schedule shall be considered as superstitions, he added.
The law alone would not bring social change and only constant education would facilitate the process, he added.
