Nagpur, Nov 15 (UNI) Four policemen, including a jawan of State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), were hurt when a hand grenade went off accidentally at Dhanora police station in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district today.

According to sources in the district police, the incident took place when Madhukar Usendi, a police constable, was cleaning the firearms kept in the police station this noon. It was then that a hand grenade kept there went off accidentally, injuring Mr Usendi.

SRPF jawan Mahesh Shirsat and two other police constables -- Mohan Raut and Madhukar Madavi -- were also injured in the blast. All the four received injuries in the hands and legs as the splinters flew in all directions after the blast, sources said.

Though none of them received serious injury in the mishap, Mr Raut and Mr Shirsat were admitted to a private hospital in Nagpur, while Mr Usendi and Mr Madavi were being treated in a local hospital. The incident would be probed by a senior official, they added.
