Former LG, Helpage prez D R Kohli Cremated

New Delhi, Nov 15 (UNI) Former Lt Governor of Delhi and former President of Helpage India D R Kohli, who passed away on Tuesday, was cremated here today.

Mr Kohli, an ICS officer of the 1942 cadre of Assam, had died in his sleep at his Vasant Vihar residence here, family sources said.

He is survived by his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.

He was the LG of Delhi between 1977 and 1980. He had earlier held such important positions as the Defence Secretary, Manipur's LG, Director of Indian Aid to Nepal.

After his retirement in 1980, he had joined Helpage India. He held positions of Director, President and member of the Governing body in the non-profit organisation.

He had resigned from Helpage India's Governing body earlier this year for health reasons.

Wreaths were laid on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and Helpage India.
