Admin begins land acquisition process

Mysore
District
Administration
will
begin
the
process
of
acquiring
320
acre
of
additional
land
for
upgradation
of
Mandakalli
Airport
here.
Talking to newspersons here today, Mysore District Administration Deputy Commissioner N S Chennappa Gowda said, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) needed additional 320 acre land for the second phase expansion of the airport.
The administration had already handed over 175 acre of land to the AAI and the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board was entrusted with the land acquisition process.
He said additional land was necessary to construct a third runway to accommodate ATR 72 aircraft.
The government would provide necessary rehabilitation package to the displaced persons, he said.
Mr Gowda said the survey, for diverting 1.8 km stretch in Mysore-Ooty National Highway 212, was completed and the report was forwared to the Centre for approval.
