More land brought under irrigation: Minister

Hyderabad, Nov 14 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah today said more tracts of land were brought under irrigation through 'Jalayagnam' programme taken up by the government during the last three years.

Replying to a question by P Padmavathi in Legislative Council during Question Hour, the Minister said the present of land under irrigation stood at 11.09 lakh acre compared to 1.10 crore in 2003-04.

The extend of land irrigated in the State upto 2033-04 was 1.10 crore lakh acre.
