Major tragedy averted, hideout busted in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 14 (UNI) Security forces today averted a major tragedy and also busted a hideout in the Kashmir valley overnight, a police spokesman said.

Special Operation Group (SOG) Of Jammu and Kashmir Police and 41 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), in a joint operation, detected a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by militants to target security forces on Shatpora Manigah road in the frontier district of Kupwara, he said.

The area was immediately cordoned off and later the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused it without causing any damage.

He said troops of 9 JAK Rifles recovered two 7.62 mm Pistols, two Pistol magazines, five Pistol rounds, one Rack Sack and one wireless set during search operation from a nallah at Machil Kupwara.

However, no one was arrested.
