Kidnapped student yet to be rescued

Tirupati, Nov 14 (UNI) Eight-year-old Guru Srinu, who was kidnapped by an unidentified person from his school Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB) here yesterday, is yet to be rescued.

According to family sources, the boy's father Mr Srinivasulu, a wholesale merchant, received a phone call from an STD booth in Khadi Colony in the city, where the anonymous caller allegedly demanded Rs six lakh ransom for the release of his son.

The parents had not received further calls from the 'kidnapper' till now, the sources said.

However, Chittoor District Superintendent of Police Shashidar Reddy, who visited the school and the parents at their house, had alerted all the police stations and deployed special teams at town limits for closely checking each and every vehicle.

Meanwhile, police had taken two auto drivers into custody for interrogation.

The students' parents alleged that the incident was the result of poor security system in the school.
