HC stays Gorakhpur varsity VC's arrest

Allahabad, Nov 14 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court today stayed the arrest of the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Deen Dayal Upadhyay University, Gorakhpur, Arun Kumar in connection with an FIR lodged against him in a corruption case.

A bench comprising Justices Imtiaz Murtaza and A K passed the order on a writ petition filed by Kumar.

The Hingh Court directed the Uttar Pradesh government to file a reply in the case and also issued a notice to Ram Naresh Pandey on whose complaint the FIR was lodged.

The VC had been charged with committing gross irregularities in B.Ed admissions.
