Haryana launches drive against child labour
Chandigarh, Nov 14 (UNI) On the occasion of Children's Day, the Haryana government today launched a state-wide drive against child labour.
An official spokesman said it was the endeavour of the state government to totally eliminate all forms of child labour in the state for which a multi-pronged approach would be adopted.
During the fortnight-long drive, the Labour Department would make surprise inspections, raids and rescue operations as well as launch intensive awareness generation campaigns in their respective areas and organise sensitisation workshops for various sections of the society against child labour.
He said District Magistrates would spearhead and supervise this campaign against child labour at district level.
They had been directed to carry out activities for the awareness against child labour in a targeted manner with the help of Labour Department and the other Enforcement Agencies.
He said the problem of child labour was not endemic in the state but lately there had been increase in the incidents due to prohibition of employment of children in dhabas, eateries and to work as domestic servants.
