'French Indians' stage demonstration
Puducherry, Nov 14 (UNI) 'The French India Viduthalai Kaala Makkal Narpani Iyyakkam', a movement striving for the cause of those who opted for Indian citzenship at the time of Puducherry's liberation from the French, today took out a procession to press their demands.
The volunteers, including freedom fighters, led by the movement's President D Sivaraj, took out a procession from the Anna statue to the Nehru statue, where they staged a demonstration, demanding pension and free house site 'pattas' to the people who chose Indian citizenship.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Sivaraj said the agitation was also to condemn Puducherry PCC President P Shanmugham for his failure to initiate any action in this issue and press the government to celebrate November one as the Union Territory's Independence Day.
