Farm commodity prices remain generally steady

New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) Retail prices of farm commodities generally remained steady or have shown mixed trend over the week ending November 12, 2007.

Prices of wheat at retail level remained steady at all the monitoring centres except at Thiruvanthapuram.

Retail price of sugar remained steady over the week across most of the centres. Prices increased at Delhi, Patna and Hydeabad.

According to monitoring by the Department of Consumer Affairs, prices of gram dal have generally remained steady across majority of the monitoring centres. Prices increased at Chennai, and Mumbai and decreased at Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Patna and Bangalore.

Prices of tur dal declined at Kolkata and increased at Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Patna, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram.

At Delhi, as on that date, prices of wheat, gram dal, tur dal, groundnut oil, potato and milk were holding steady for one week; those of mustard oil, vanaspati and salt were steady for one month and price of atta was holding steady for over one year. Prices of onion declined and those of rice and sugar increased over the week.
