Ex-K'taka CM's son launches new party

Madikeri, Karnataka, Nov 14 (UNI) Mr Mahima Patel, son of former Karnataka chief minister J H Patel, launched a new political party 'Suvarna Yuga' at Talacauvery, the birthplace of river Cauvery today.

Announcing the launch after performing pooja at the river with about 600 supporters, Mr Patel said the new party would become ''powerful,' alike river Cauvery flowing into many areas despite a ''small beginning''.

Mr Patel said he quit Janata Dal (Secular) not because he was denied ''positions'', but because it failed to keep the promise of transfer of power to BJP on October three. The 'remarriage' between the BJP and the JD(S) was nothing but an ''opportunistic move''.

His mother Sarvamangala Patel launched the party by lighting a lamp.
