Committee on jail reforms constituted in Bihar

Patna, Nov 14 (UNI) The Bihar government today constituted a high level committee headed by state chief secretary A K Chaudhary to suggest reforms in improving the living conditions of prisoners.

Official sources here said the decision to constitute committee was taken at a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and attended by chief secretary, principal secretary and IG (prison).

'' The committee will submit the report after detailed study of the jail conditions in several districts of the state and amendment in prison act and state police manual will be made on the basis of its recommendations,'' sources added.

The state government had also given its nod to establish an open jail with capacity of 100 prisoners at Buxar.
