Baripada, Nov 14 (UNI) Hundreds of Bhanja Sena activists today demonstrated before the Town police station demanding arrest of the miscreants who made an unsuccessful bid on the life of their President Kalinga Keshari Jena.

The agitators then forced the shops and business establishments to down their shutters as a mark of protest against the attack.

Police said three unidentified miscreants armed with country-made revolver fired at Mr Jena while he was having tea along with some of his friends at a local tea shop yesterday evening.

The bullet just bruised his back and he miraculously escaped, sources added. A second bullet was fired and that too missed him.

The town police which visited the area shortly after the incident seized the pistol and a bullet left by the miscreants.

District Congress Committee President Hemant Das in a statement strongly condemned the unsuccessful bid on the life of the Bhanja Sena Chief in the Ganesh market area and said the incident reflected the deteriorating law and order situation in the town.
