SC refuses former Guj minister bail plea

New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) The Supreme Court today refused to entertain an anticipatory bail petition filed by former Gujarat minister Babubhai Bokhadia, facing allegations of selling limestone worth over Rs 54 crore illegally.

A bench, comprising Justices B N Agrawal, P P Naolekar and D K Jain, refused to entertain the petition when the counsel for the petitioner submitted before the court that there was no evidence against his client to prove his involvement in illegal mining of limestone.

The counsel later agreed to seek regular bail from the trial court.

The apex court directed the petitioner to surrender first and then ask for regular bail.
