EC restrains HP Government from taking over two temples
Shimla, Nov 13 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today restrained Himachal Pradesh Government from taking over the Satyanarain temple at Rampur and the Hanuman temple at Shoghi near Shimla till the election process was over and asked it to maintain status quo.
The move for takeover of two temples had become a contentious issue and the VHP and BJP had opposed it and filed a complaint with the EC.
Following the complaint, state's Chief Electoral Officer Manisha Nanda asked Shimla Deputy Commissioner Tarun Kapoor to file a report with the state election departmemt on the issue.
The report was later forwarded to the EC, which took a strong view on the issue and restrained the state government from taking over the temples.
