Sonepat, Nov 13 (UNI) Member of Parliament Deepender Singh Hooda today said Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had played a key role in getting the ban on the export of non-basmati rice lifted, thus benefitting the farmers to the tune of crores of rupees.

These views were expressed by the MP while addressing a gathering after the closing ceremony of Kabaddi competition organised by Youth Sports Club at village Kathura in district Sonepat. He also laid the foundation stone of a sports stadium and school rooms.

Mr Deepender Hooda pointed out that the Chief Minister had met with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Commerce Minister Kamal Nath and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar so that the ban could be lifted, as he is the real well wisher of the farming community.

He said a number of schemes had been launched for the welfare of the farming community including waiving off remaining power bills of amounting to Rs 1600 crore.
