Boy kidnapped from school for ransom

Tirupati, Nov 13 (UNI) An eight-year-old school boy was kidnapped for ransom from his school near Alipiri here this afternoon, while the students were engaged in the preparations for tomorrow's Children's Day celebrations.

Guru Srinivas, son of Srinivasulu, a bangle merchant, was abducted by an unidentified person during lunch break, police said.

The school authorities were late to take notice of the missing third standard student as the children were out of classes for Childrens' Day preparations.

Meanwhile, the kidnapper telephoned the boy's father and demanded a ransom for his release, police added.

All telephone booth operators in the town were alerted and search operations were under way.
