Anil Ambani welcomes DOT's mobile portability
Mumbai, Nov 13: Private telecom major Reliance Communications chairman Anil Ambani today welcomed the move of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to introduce mobile portability in four metros.
In a statment here, RComm chairman said ''This is a forward looking initiative. It is pro-competition, pro-consumer and above all pro-choice''.
The government today introduced the much-awaited number portability in four metros that will enable users to switch operators while retaining their mobile numbers.
The DoT had earlier shelved the regulator's proposal for the implementation of portability.
This cutting-edge technology enables customers to move from one mobile service to another within GSM and also between GSM and CDMA, while retaining the same number. It gives flexibility to customers and keeps operators on their toes lest their service quality fails.
