Advani demands Presidents' Rule in Bengal
Kolkata, Nov 13 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani today demanded imposition of President's Rule in West Bengal and accused the Left Front Government of violating the Constitution in Nandigram.
Talking to newsmen after meeting Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi at Raj Bhavan here, the veteran BJP leader described the ''bloodbath'' in strife-torn Nandigram as ''unacceptable and unthinkable'' in any civilised society.
Demanding imposition of either Article 355 or Article 356 in the state, Mr Advani said, '' During the past 55 years of my political life, I have never seen such human massacre. This is unthinkable in any civilised society. '' The culprits whatever their party affiliations should be brought to book and meted out exemplary punishment, Mr Advani averred and said, '' Rape, murder and abduction have taken place in Nandigram.
It's unacceptable and unthinkable. '' Mr Advani wondered that neither had the Central government nor the State Government taken note of such mass killing.
'' I will raise this point for discussion in Parliament with due importance, '' he iterated.
