First batch of pilgrims leave for Haj

Srinagar/ Patna, Nov 11 : The first batch of Indian Haj pilgrims left by special flights for Jeddah in Saudi Arabia today from Srinagar and Patna.

It is customary and compulsory according to Islam that every Muslim performs the Haj pilgrim at least once during his or her lifetime. Haj is one of the five tenants of Islam and the Holy Quran directs the faithful to undertake it at least once in a lifetime.
